CHARLES BRANDON OWNER OF SCOTHORNE

Charles Brandon was born in 1484 and was the only surviving son of Sir William Brandon, Henry Tudor's Standard Bearer at the 1485 Battle of Bosworth. Sir William died defending Henry's flag when King Richard led a cavalry charge intent on killing the pretender Henry Tudor. Sir William had previously been involved in another plot against King Richard and had to escape to France before returning with Henry Tudor and dying defending the soon to be Henry VII who was eternally grateful to Sir William's family and his son Charles
